Diaries of a Non Diet Dietitian #1
Did you know that many moons ago, I used to LOVE writing?
I stopped for a while due to life getting in the way and forgetting how much I loved it. Recently I’ve started writing again in my spare time and the other day, I had an idea to continue my writing by restarting this blog and sharing my thoughts and journey here.
If you’d like to follow along, you’re in the right place. It will be a monthly insert covering a variety of topics (not just nutrition-related) because, as some of you may know, I’m actually rebranding my business this year. Stay tuned!
This week’s theme on my social media is YOUR BODY IS YOUR TEMPLE – How are you taking care of it?
Over the past few months, yoga has been something that’s really helped me slow down, stretch my muscles, release painful emotions, become more mindful and make me feel at ease.
We only have one body, right? We have to take care of it. And in this busy life, that’s certainly easier said than done.
Here are some things I do regularly to take care of my body:
Nutrition: I fuel my body adequately!
I listen to my hunger and fullness cues and honor them.
I keep my body active and rest when needed.
I get regular massages from Sarah Kelly Massage to loosen up my muscles.
I get regular chiropractic adjustments from Leesa at Saltfleet Clinic to keep my hips and back aligned.
Yoga, stretching, and meditation.
Journaling.
Daily gratitude.
Prioritizing sleep hygiene.
Crying and allowing emotions to pass through me.
I work on speaking kindly to my body.
I practice gratitude for my body and what it does for me.
I love the parts of my body that I like and accept the parts I don’t.
This is what works for me – it’s not to say that everything here will work for you.
Is there anything you need to work on in order to start honoring your body as your temple?
Until next time,
Cheers,
Mattea
