Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

  • The initial consultation provides an opportunity for us to get to know you and best understand your current goals and challenges. We will discuss your medical history, medications, movement, eating habits and dietary intake. At the end of the consultation, we will work with you to fill in the gaps of your nutrition knowledge and provide a plan which includes some goals and recommendations to pursue ahead of the follow up consultation.

  • During follow up sessions, your dietitian will review your progress. This might look like discussing some of the positive outcomes since the prior consult, as well as discussing some challenges you may have experienced. Your dietitian will always practice in a non-judgemental, kind and supportive manner. We will work collaboratively to set realistic strategies to best achieve your goals.

  • Telehealth involves having a consultation online, via video call or telephone. Telehealth is a great option if you can’t access a clinic, or if you’re unwell and need to self-isolate. Telehealth consultations are both convenient and easy to access. We offer two Telehealth consultation options: phone and video (Microsoft Teams).

  • Great question! In Australia there is a difference between dietitians and nutritionists. A nutritionist may be a tertiary qualified nutrition professional that has the expertise to provide a range of evidence based nutrition services related to nutrition, public health nutrition, policy and research, and community health. It’s important to note that the term ‘nutritionist’ is not regulated. Therefore, this title may be used by dietitians, nutrition scientists and nutrition graduates – and also those with very limited qualifications in nutrition.

Alternatively, dietitians are also qualified to provide this range of evidence based nutrition services, but in addition, dietitians have the expertise to provide individual dietary counselling, medical nutrition therapy, group dietary therapy and food service management.

  • My sessions are $180 for 60 minutes (1 hour)

Improvements people are seeing:

  • My energy levels have increased

I have been following the plan and I would say my energy has been better, I have been training well, strength has increased (made my coach laugh a few times when he kept adding the weights). Sleep advice is definitely helping, I have been reading books rather than screen time. The great news is that I have been selected for the National Powerlifting Champs in Brisbane

  • Night time cravings have stopped!

I told my doctor I then got input from Mattea to increase my carbohydrates to reduce my craving for food just before I go to bed. The input from you has increased my energy - from eating more carbohydrates and more fruit, it stopped the night time cravings

  • No longer tired and feeling depleted

My energy levels are much better I definitely don’t feel as depleted and tired

  • I have a greater understanding of nourishing my body

I eat more. I feel more energetic. I’ve lost weight and I have a greater understanding of what I need to eat to nourish my body

  • Freedom from food + binge eating!

I have learnt so much from the Nutrition and Mindset program. It has helped me so much with my binge eating and the understanding of having a balanced diet and a freedom of food! I used to stress so much about my eating and it controlled me everyday, and the aftermath of that is I would try to be “healthy” (restricting any sort of sugar) and then immediately give up and binge eat. But now I can eat anything I want without guilt, and I feel comfortable in my body. I have also improved my gut health, after assessing my diet and realising I needed more fruit and vegetables. I’m so glad I completed this program, I feel so content with my eating now!
